The Concessionary Company shall deposit within one month, or in default the present Concession may be declared annulled, a caution-money of two hundred and fifty thousand francs (250,000 frs.) in cash or in Government Rentes, on which the Company will receive the dividends, to remain at the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, during the term of the Concession, as a Guarantee Fund for the working, as well as for the maintenance of the cable.

This deposit shall be refunded to the Company at the same time as the last term of the subsidy shall be paid.

In the event of an interruption of communication by the cable, the repairs must be made in the shortest possible time; should they not be effected within a term of six months, the French Government shall have (the State reserving the faculty to pronounce the annulment, as is stated in Article 22) the right of itself proceeding to effect the repairs at the charge of the Guarantee Fund stipulated by the preceding Article 18.

ART. 20. The Company shall not transfer any of their rights to the present Concession, nor lease the cable, nor amalgamate their interests in the said cable with those of any other Company, without the express consent, in writing, of the French Government.

ART. 21. The present Convention shall be for a period of twenty years, at the expiration of which time, the Company will retain their property in the Cable, but if the Convention has not been renewed, the Company will lose the landing-rights conferred by the present Convention.
